Hen Party Inspiration - Rustic, Autumnal Vibes

Who doesn’t love Autumn? As the colours change, leaves fall and light softens after the vivid glow of summer, it creates a more delicate, magical feel to the days. On warmer days it feels like the perfect season to be outside enjoying nature, truly able to relax and enjoy the most laidback of all the seasons.

I really do love this season so I was super happy to be invited to contribute to a beautiful, autumnal hen party styled shoot last month. Created by event stylist Caroline of Whispering Love, shot by Nel Nicholson and featuring a host of talented suppliers, the concept embodied that feeling of warm autumn days with it’s rustic setting at Burnt House Farm and relaxed, vintage styling.

The use of texture and colour is just lovely and shows what an amazing party you can create both indoors and outdoors for your hen party or micro wedding.

Kent-based Florist Emily brought it all together with simple, relaxed floral details - small vases and hanging blooms added to the ethereal feel.

I was asked to create some macramé pieces to surround the glorious outdoor cake table display of pretty designs from Kerrie's Vintage Tea. I created a large backdrop piece using a foraged tree branch , around 80cm wide, and strung it with natural toned, recycled cotton yarn. I am always looking for ways to mix natural, rustic tones and colours with more contemporary styling, so layered up other hanging macramé pieces featuring solid copper rings in varying sizes and simple yet striking knotting techniques.

I also included 2 macramé hangers in the same natural shade - these are designed to hang plant pots or vases but worked perfectly as plate hangers to add height and texture to the dessert display. Don’t you just love the look? It would work so well for a wedding dessert table too.

In the new year I will be launching a range of pre-designed and bespoke macramé wedding decor, so it was just lovely to work on these pieces and have them featured in such a lovely shoot ahead of launch. I’ll be offering both purchase and hire options for these pieces to give flexibility for all budgets. Some people love to keep their decor as a memento of their day or to pass on to friends, but if you aren’t that way inclined hiring can be a more eco-conscious option, allowing you to create this look for your party or wedding without buying more ‘stuff’ that you won’t use afterwards. It also makes them perfect for parties like this one!

Here are a few more shots from the day - I just love all the details!! You’ll also find a list of the suppliers involved so if you love the style, do check them out.
